Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz is the Founder and Chairman of Chaifetz Group. Dr. Chaifetz heads the firm’s executive committee and is actively involved in all aspects of the firm’s operations. Dr. Chaifetz brings his significant entrepreneurial and business experience to each and every Chaifetz Group partner.
Dr. Chaifetz is uniquely qualified to guide entrepreneurs, business owners, and management teams based on his experience founding ComPsych Corporation in 1984. As the founder, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych he has grown the company since its inception to be the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs (EAP) and the leading provider of fully integrated EAP, behavioral health, work-life, wellness and outsourced HR solutions. ComPsych provides services to over 78 million individuals and 29,000 organizations ranging from the Fortune 500 to smaller public and private companies and government entities through the U.S. and more than 130 countries.
In addition, Dr. Chaifetz has more than three decades of experience advising and investing in public and private companies, as well as serving on boards of companies across a variety of industries. In addition to Chaifetz Group portfolio companies, Dr. Chaifetz currently serves as an advisor to Kennet Partners and Vistria Group. He is on the board of trustees of The Field Museum of Natural History, Saint Louis University, TCS Education System, the Miami University Farmer School of Business, the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, and the Brain Research Foundation. In 2007, he was named Saint Louis University's Alumni of the Year and was inducted into the University's Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame. Dr. Chaifetz is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the Economic Club of Chicago and the Executives’ Club of Chicago.
Dr. Chaifetz is the most frequently quoted expert in the behavioral health/workplace field, appearing regularly in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Newsweek, BusinessWeek and Time. He also appears frequently on numerous radio and television programs as an expert on trends in the workplace, psychological effects of world events and the impact of economic trends on the work environment.
Dr. Chaifetz and his wife Jill are active philanthropists through their Chaifetz Family Foundation. Notable gifts include the Chaifetz Arena at Saint Louis University, Chaifetz Trading Center at Miami University Farmer School of Business, Richard and Jill Chaifetz Curator of Zoology at The Field Museum, and significant donations to the Make-A-Wish foundation, as well as other charitable organizations.
Dr. Chaifetz, a licensed neuropsychologist, is a magna cum laude graduate of Saint Louis University and received his Psy.D. from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.
